The history of Shodenzan Temple dates back to the third year of the Jisho
Era (1179) when, as a local governor, Lord Saito Betto Sanemori enshrined
the Deified Spirit Shoden, the main object of worship venerated from generation
to generation, at the temple.The deified spirit of Shoden in Menuma is
known as one of the three great deified spirits of Shoden in Japan.
The main building has been designated as a national treasure of Japan.
All the parts and walls of the buildings are decorated with carvings and
the buildings are precious ancient cultural remnants of the middle part
of the Edo Period (1600 - 1868), painted in brilliant colors.

Shinkansen Line, take a bus bound for “Ohta,”“Nishi-Koizumi” or “Menuma
Shoden-mae” operated by Asahi Bus Co. Get off at “Shoden-mae” bus stop.

일본 3대성천의 하나로서, 헤이케모노가타리에도 등장하는 무장이 본존을 모신것에서 유래합니다. 국보로 지정된 본전 ｢간기인 쇼덴도｣의
안쪽에는 선명한 색채의 조각이 건물 일면에 장식되어 있으며 , 장식기술의 정점으로서에 귀중한 모습을 가까이에서 볼 수 있습니다.
