Wakizashi style mount

wood blade length 46cm

This is a wakizashi style mount with the motif of "Tanabata". It is a festival on July 7th. People wish on stars. The festival is famous with the story of lovers separated with milky way. The man is a cowboy, and the woman is a weaver.
The metal fittings are old from 16th century. Such old and excellent work is very rare. The handle look old, but the scabbard look renewal in 18th century or so.
Tsuba is missing. I wonder if it was no tsuba originally.
