Cheap sword 9
Wakizashi very shortened (O'suriage)
Blade length 53.5cm, thickness at the base 7mm, width 3.1cm
This is a wakizashi blade shortened from a long sword. Probably the age
of the blade is 15th or 16th century.
Steel has a wood grain layer pattern including some burl pattern. It is
visible. So it may be interesting for eye.
Hamon is made of large particles. And its pattern is choji, including some
Kawazuko-choji. The steel layer also influences to the hamon as sunagashi
and kinsuji. It is very attractive for eye. Utsuri also appears.
Polishing is the classical style (sashikomi style). It is fresh and good
work.
Of course we don't know who the smith is. But the total character of the
blade reminds us Mino tradition. So we temporally attribute it to "Kanefusa".
Tang is completely non original. It is reshaped when the blade was shortened.
Habaki is gold foiled, but a little damaged.
