Wakizashi no-signature
Blade length 51.6cm, thickness at the base 7mm, width 2.7cm
This is a nice wakizashi blade. It is so shortened that the signature cut off (O'suriage). It is in poor condition, though.
Steel has a wood grain layer pattern. It is fine color. Some rough layer appears.
The condition on the obverse side is horrible, while the reverse side is OK. Probably it had rust on the obverse side, and some one tried to remove it by polishing cream or something like that.
Hamon is made of very small particles, and the temper line is tight. Hamon in kissaki has become narrow, but the round pattern at the tip suggests the good work of the smith.
Tang
The shortening work is very proper.
Habaki is gold foiled double.
Shirasaya and bag
This is very worn, and the condition is not very good. But it is a good sample to study what good koto blade is.
We are planning to polish it. But it seems to take some months, because our polisher is very busy. If you would like this blade as it is, we can sell it for 80,000.yen.
