Naginata "Shitahara Hiroshige"

Blade length 38.2cm, thickness at the base 7mm, width 2.7cm, widest part 3.4cm

This is a naginata blade with the signature of Hiroshige of Shitahara school in 17-18th century. Shitahara is a school of smiths they are descendants of Soshu smiths. They lived in Shitahara town in Hachioji city, Musashi province. They are employed by Shogun in Edo period.

Signature "Bushu Shitaahara ju Hiroshige" (Hiroshige, lives in Shitahara, Musashi province)

There were several generations in Hiroshige linage. But we don't know which smith this is.

This is just a naked blade with some rust. So, no one know what blade would come out after restoration work. Unfortunately we don't have a craftsman who has time to polish it for now. Then, we'll release it as it is.
It is good for polishers who would like to practice with naginata, or treasure hunters.
