Naginata-naoshi style Wakizashi
"Naohiro"
blade length 57.7cm, thickness at the base 8.5mm,
width 32mm, weight 790g
This blade has a shape in "Unokubi-Zukuri" style.
"Naginata-naoshi" means a blade what re-shaped from naginata.
(like this => Shikkake)
This blade is not a naginata-naoshi, but originally made
in such a style. Sometimes smiths make a blade that looks as though re-shaped
from naginata. Such a style is especially called Naginata-naoshi style.
It is excellent blade. And so is the polishing work.
The blade has been polished by the classical style (sashikomi). The steel
colour appears more shining than normal sashikomi style. It can be called
"modern sashikomi".
Can you see the utsuri (shadow of hamon) on the pictures.
The tang.
