The signature

"Heian Sanjo (ni) oite, Keio 3 nen Nigatsu nichi tsukuru" (at Sanjo in Kyoto, 1867 February)

"MIYAMOTO Noto (no) kami Kanenori"
 
The steel is wood grain layer pattern.






 
The hamon is Gunome pattern made of nie (large particles). Kinsuji/sunagashi appears around the temper line. Some amount of tobiyaki/muneyaki appear.






MIYAMOTO Kanenori is one of the most famous two smiths in Meiji era. The other is GASSAN Sadaichi. They are settled as the "Smith of Imperial family's order".
This blade is made at the end of Edo period in Kyoto. The next year is the first year of Meiji era. At the time, the emperor still lived in Kyoto. We can imagine the dramatic change of history from the Samurai age toward the modern age.
 
The habaki is silver foiled.
 
 
An NBTHK paper is added. It is a rank of Tokubetsu Kicho Token.
