sword19
Shin-shinto with fake signature (?)

blade length 71.6cm,  curvature 1.7cm,  thickness at the base 8mm,  width 3.3cm,  weight 870g

The rust condition of the tang is a little strange. It looks artificial rusting. So we think the signature may be fake. But there is a sayagaki (writing on shirasaya) by Dr. Kanzan Sato who judged it genuine.

"Hizen-koku ju Totomi(no)kami Fujiwara Kanehiro"

The steel has a visible wood grain layer pattern.

The hamon is a Gunome pattern made of large particles (Nie).

This is a ordinary quality blade. It is heavy and wide.
It is polished with the modern style, but the shape is not well refined, and the finishing work is not very good.
It will be suitable for cutting performance in this condition.
The signature may be fake. It may be a Shin-shinto or Gendai-to in fact.
It is a real Japanese sword, even though the quality is not very high.

The habaki is foiled with Shakudo (black copper). It is an original old habaki.

The shirasaya has a Sayagaki by Dr. Kanzan Sato.

Several closer pictures are added by request.
