Wakizashi "Yamato-no-kami Yoshimichi" with excellent polish
blade length 54.6cm, curvature 1.1cm, thickness at the base 7.5mm, width
3.3cm
The tang
The signature "Yamato-(no)-kami Yoshimichi"
The steel is very fine with bright jinie (steel particles), and the layer
pattern is a small wood grain.
The hamon is bright, made of konie (small particles) and some amount of
nie (large particles). The hamon pattern is an aesthetic gunome and choji.
The polishing is by the classical style, and it is very excellent. The
steel looks very clear, and the steel particles are very fine. The hamon
is also clear. We don't find such a clearness on recent polishing. I wonder
why present polishers don't make such work. This honest polishing shows
that the blade is very high quality even the hamon pattern is an obstruction.
