Sword 13
Spear originally no-signature
Blade length (including the neck) 30.8cm
This is a spear with triangle cross section. It is called "hira-sankaku-zukuri".
It looks an ordinary quality blade at a glance. But by careful studying,
we wonder if it could be a good blade. The neck is shaped properly. It
suggests the skillful work of the smith.
Steel has a flowing wood grain layer pattern on the ridge side. And you
can find beautiful steel particles by careful studying.
On the flat side, the steel has a compact steel layer.
Hamon pattern is straight. The temper line on the flat side is tight and
neat, while that on the ridge side is not so. Probably the steel is different
on each side.

The polishing work is not very good in the meaning both shaping and finishing.
So, we wonder if it could turn to a nice blade by proper polishing. But
unfortunately, we don't know a craftsman who has enough knowledge, skill,
and will to polish spears.
As for the engraving - We are not sure, but some people say a spear with
such an engraving is used for execution. => Haritsuke_keizaishousetsu.jpg (2287~1287)
